This beer tastes almost as good as an earned one

Zac and I have made it to the Charlotte Airport's bar. We've earned a much deserved beer in recognition of all of our planning and efforts to get this trip off the ground. There have been a few hiccups along the way including a little extra expenses of bringing bike over seas. There beer here at the airport is a calming and soothing resolution to stress of getting here. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time and I just wan to get there already. With the looming giant that is the amount of time it will take to get halfway around the world, I get the feeling that what awaits us there is a fair amount of open arms. My fear is that we'll not a good way to get/stay in touch with people. At this point we're looking to do a good amount of camping and staying hostel. I think, for me, this blog is going to be a good way to recount the our activities of the trip as well as communicate across the world and not be attached to a cell phone. Already, its only been about an hour without my phone and I feel more comfortable. This entire trip is full of "first time" magic. This will be the first time I'm out like this and I'm with the person that I trust the most. I'm amazed that I can say that, but as I sit here and watch my travel companion enjoy a beer, I get the sense that we're truly in this together. On a different note, I feel like I should qualify the title of this entry. The beer that we're both enjoying tastes almost as good as a beer after a tough ride. The kind of beer that you know you've earned after putting in a long day in the saddle. This one on the other hand has been the first reaped fruits of a long span of careful thought. I'd also like to note that I am so relieved to have come this far I would like another beer.
